Smith Mountain Lake is located in the foothills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains between Roanoke, Lynchburg, Bedford and Rocky Mount. With an altitude of 800 feet, Smith Mountain Lake has 500 miles of shoreline, 22,000 acres, and a 3,100-foot strip airport. Recreation includes golf, tennis, all water sports, croquet, horseback riding, walking trails and some of the best fishing in the Middle Atlantic. In part due to its excellent water quality, the lake has held state-record-sized striped bass nearing 50 pounds.

Our central location, approximately midway between the Northeast and the Southeast, is less than a day's drive from Maine or Florida. The easy commute from Roanoke, the capital of the Blue Ridge, allows numerous individuals and families to choose the lake as their permanent residence. Directions:

• From Danville...Take 29 North to Route 40.  Exit in Gretna.  Take 40 west 22 miles to Hwy. 834 (2 miles west of Whistle Stop Restaurant).  Take #834 to #116 (Scruggs Rd.) and turn left.  Turn left at next intersection onto Hwy 122 (Booker T. Washington Hwy).  The Westlake Towne Center is 1/4 mile on left with Westlake Lighting Designs on Builders Pride Drive.

• From Greensboro...Take 220 N to Rt. 40E in Rocky Mount, VA.  Take 122 N (16 miles).  Westlake Towne Center is located before the corner of Rt. 122 & 616 on the right just past Krogers.

• From Roanoke...Take 220 S to Wirtz.  Turn left on Rt. 697 at Dairy Queen.  Go approximately 4 1/2 miles to Rt. 122.  Turn left onto Rt. 122 and proceed 8 miles.  Westlake Towne Center is located 1/4 mile past the corner of Rt. 122 & Rt. 616.

• From Lynchburg...Take 460 W to Bedford.  Take bypass to Rt. 122 S (sign for Smith Mountain Lake).  Proceed 20 miles on Rt. 122.  Westlake Towne Center is located just past the corner of Rt. 122 & Rt. 616.
